pyrography with Basia

Meet Basia (Ba-Sha). She is DIY’er, artist and an author in love with radial symmetry patterns, nature and bringing people the knowledge to free their mind through art.

Enjoying and making art is at the core of who basia is. She loves color, design, photography, patterns and textures. She has been burning since 2010 and exploring the art of radial symmetry in many different mediums for years before pyrography. Basia is a proud Wood Burn Corner squad member and working behind WBC scenes with Rachel; utilizing her passions of creativity and talents in marketing and graphic design in a unique and fun way as well as leading and growing the pyrography community.

Being a self-taught artist who loves almost every single artform including chalk pastel, ink, paper crafts, wire and feather jewellery and of course any type of wood working, Basia lives for crafting, working creatively with her hands and making everything around her.

Her passion for wood burning all started with a bus. The Bass Bus (www.bassbus.ca) is a mobile platform for artists to express themselves through music, dancing and art! The entire inside of the bus was renovated with wood, and due to its permanency, the crew on the Bass Bus chose pyrography to be the artform featured on its walls. They asked Basia to embellish the walls with her art and this is where her love for burning started.

She continues to create pyro art on the regular, along with making mushroom hats, dollhouses, feather earrings/accessories, plus many other crafting projects and is always happy to teach others her knowledge and skills. She recently wrote a book on how to draw your own radial symmetry patterns; The Wood Burn Community Book of Templates Radial Symmetry Edition and her art can be found in the earlier editions she helped come to life; The Wood Burn Community Book of Templates volume one and two.

Basia’s passion for nature and the earth has influenced her work in many ways. From choosing reclaimed materials and wood from sustainable sources, donating to organisations that plant trees around the globe to creating designs that showcase the beauty of nature in abstract ways.

Basia was born in Poland and now lives and creates in Ontario, Canada.
